Greetings!

My name is Emily Barnes and this is my fourth year here at Northwood Hills Elementary. I love the school environment, eager students, enthusiastic faculty, and supportive parents!

I grew up in Abilene, Texas and decided to stay close to home and attend Abilene Christian University in 2004. I always had a passion for children, but never knew how I wanted to channel that passion. Teaching runs in my family, so I decided to give it a try as well! Ever since I made that decision, I have not looked back! I graduated in May 2008 with honors, a degree in Early Childhood Education, and a ring on my finger! That ring, and that special someone, brought me to this great city of Dallas! I met my husband, Josh, in college and we married on May 31, 2008! We just bought a house in Richardson and love spending time with friends, family, and our Chocolate Lab, Abby!

My goal for this year is to create a passion for learning within my students. I want to create a safe, manageable, active, and learning classroom environment. When you step foot into my class, we are like a family through the way we encourage and support each other. I look forward to the goals that will be met, friendships that will be made, questions that will be answered, and dreams that will be reached!
