Edna Niederman

Kindergarten

Hello All!

My name is Edna Niederman. I am so excited to be in my fourth year teaching at this wonderful school.  Northwood Hills Elementary (NHE) is such a special place, and it is my pleasure to be a part of this team, working hard to do our best for every child on our campus.

This is my third year teaching kindergarten at Northwood Hills. Before becoming a kindergarten teacher, I spent three years teaching third grade. The first two were at a charter school in Austin, and the third was here at NHE. Prior to becoming a teacher, I spent several years working as a transportation planner for a civil engineering firm. I worked mostly on making maps and doing environmental analyses for clients like the Texas Department of Transportation.

I grew up mostly in Southern California, but as a military brat, I lived in Alaska, Maryland, and Louisiana where I was born. I got my bachelor’s degree in Geography at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. It was such a wonderful opportunity to live in our nation’s capital. I also have a master’s degree in elementary education from Texas State University in San Marcos.

When I am not working, I love to travel, read, and spend time with my family. I have been married to my wonderful husband, Leonard Kapusta, since 2004. Our son Miles was born in 2010 and is the apple of our eyes.

I look forward to working with each of my students and their families as they begin their educational journeys. We’re going to have a great year together!
