Hello,
I am Laurie Martini, a 5th Grade teacher here at
Northwood Hills Elementary School.
I
spent most of my grade-school days in Plano, but I did get
to attend Yale Elementary for Kindergarten and first
grade. Both years I had Mrs. Pingle who is now a Reading
Specialist in RISD. I have very fond memories of my time
at Yale. In 1984, my family moved to Plano, and I
graduated from Plano Senior High School in 1995.
My
desire to become a teacher led me to the University of
North Texas. UNT has a wonderful Education Program. As a
part of the program, I was given the opportunity to
student teach in RISD for an entire school year at
Greenwood Hills Elementary. After completing my student
teaching, I graduated from UNT in the year 2000.
The
year 2000 was a big year for me. I also married my
husband, Adam, on July 1st, 2000. We are the
proud parents of Jack Martini, our son, who was born
August 9, 2005. He is such a blessing! We also
have two furry kids, dogs, named Jeepers and Hank.
We all love spending our free time in the "great
outdoors."
I
am fortunate to work at a school with such a nurturing
environment. Northwood Hills is filled with caring people
who have high expectations for all of the students in our
diverse population. I hope to work here for many years to
come.
