Howdy!

My name is Mariel Garza. Photography has been part of my life before I could even say “cheese!” I love that a simple picture can flood your mind with emotions and memories you thought you had long forgotten.   I graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Motor Behavior in May of 2007.  I love Texas A&M and everything it embodies. I believe that “the other education” is just as important as the textbooks and in order to be successful you need a good balance of the two.

 After graduating I worked for an occupational therapist at a pre-school for children with autism. That is where my love for children with special needs truly developed. During my time at this private- care facility I decided to go back and get my teaching certificate and work in the public school system. Lucky for me, I was offered a position in the wonderful Special Education Department at NHE!    This is my third year at NHE and I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else.

Not only am I blessed with a supportive family at Northwood Hills but I get to go home to a large companionate family as well! I have two beautiful sisters and four hilarious brothers. Needless to say, there is never a dull moment in my life! I met my best friend and loving husband our freshman year at Texas A&M University.  We have been friends for seven years and have been married since November, 2009.  Joey is the other half to Mariel Garza Photography. We have been a team throughout and it made perfect sense to work together in this venture!

As a special education teacher I have the joy of going into numerous classrooms across several grade levels. I look forward to making memories with each of you!
