Hi!

My name is Rachel  Martinez. I was born in Boston, Massachusetts and currently enjoy vacationing on Cape Cod in the summers.  In addition to my love of art my additional hobbies are sailing and photography.  I have four grown children and two grandchildren.

My degree is from the University of North Texas where I graduated cum laude with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Art Education.  Several years later I took graduate classes at East Texas State University and received my elementary classroom certification.  After teaching 4 years in private schools I am beginning my 15^th year in RISD. Before coming to Northwood Hills two years ago as the art specialist, I previously taught 2^nd and 3^rd grades in RISD.

My passion as an art teacher is to help my students release their inner creative abilities, find success in the artistic process, enjoy learning new skills and techniques, and to develop an appreciation of the arts.

I am excited to be in such a wonderful EXEMPLARY school where staff, parents, and students work together to achieve success.
