The Weekly Falcon

Northwood Hills Elementary School

Mackie Kazdoy, principal

Many Thanks to the anonymous parent who brought 2 generous gift certificates for staff faculty meeting drawings!

Thank you and YUM to Russo’s New York Italian Kitchen for bringing the largest and most delicious pizza to our staff last week!  Be sure to visit this new neighborhood restaurant on the southeast corner of Campbell and Central Expressway.

Code of Conduct Acknowledgement Forms Everyone received a RISD Student Code of Conduct Book recently.  If you have another acknowledgement form in your Tuesday envelope, it means we still needs yours back.  Please complete it and return it to school as soon as possible.

Fever-Free for 24 hours

Please remember that when they’ve been sick, students need to stay home until they have had no fever for 24 hours, without medication!  Thank you for helping us keep our students healthy!

Join us for 2nd Fridays at Chuck & Lucy’s!

NHE gets 15% of the tab at Chuck & Lucy’s (Coit & Arapaho) on the 2nd Friday of every month. That means this Friday, October 9!  Be sure to tell the cashier you’re with NHE. Plan dinner this Friday at Chuck & Lucy’s!

PTA Membership contest!  Remind your parents, grandparents or other family members to join the PTA.  The cost is only $8 and the forms are in the front of the school.  You will also get your free copy of the school directory.  Take a form home and return by Friday to win your class a Donut Day Party!

Deadline is Tuesday, October 13, so don't forget. The class to get the most sign ups wins!

"Beauty is..." your child working on his/her Reflections entry!  The goal of the Reflections program is to emphasize that all children have the ability to create a work of art that shows what beauty is to them.  They get to experiment and feel good about their artistic expression.  Your child may enter any of the 6 categories (visual arts, photography, literature, musical composition, dance choreography, film/video production) as many times as he/she likes!

All children who enter will receive recognition and will get to see their art displayed at school.  We will have a random drawing among the entrants for two movie tickets!  Also, the class with the most entries will receive an ice cream party!

Attendance Changes!

Our Truancy Judge has made the following changes to the elementary school tardy times for RISD:

*A student arriving from 8:00 – 8:09 will be counted as tardy.

*A student arriving from 8:10 – 9:29 will be counted as a Partial Day Absence.

*A student arriving after 9:29 without a doctor’s note will be counted absent.

Partial Day Absences get reported to the Truancy Court after 5 times of arriving after 8:10 and the parent will be required to go to Truancy Court.

Please make every effort to have your child at school in time to be in their classroom by 8:00 a.m.  It is a disruption to their day and to the rest of the class when they come in tardy.  Thank you for helping with this!
