January is School Board Recognition   January is School Board Recognition Month in Texas. Our RISD Board of Trustees is elected at large, and members receive no compensation for the time spent in their capacity as trustees.  We appreciate them all year, but let’s take this time to call or email them to say thank you for your service to our students!

Congratulations  to Edwin Salinas!  His Reflections photography entry received the RISD Overall Excellence Award and is moving forward to the State judging!!  Way to go, Edwin!

Auction April 16!  Have you noticed? The parking spots from the NHE auction have been updated for the spring semester!   The family parking spot, which is the 1st spot in the circle drive closest to the crosswalk and marked with a “Reserved Parking” sign, is now held by the Sohosky family. Please refrain from parking in this spot at all times to ensure it is available to the family who paid for it.   The teacher parking spot for this semester was awarded to Cheryl Derrington by the Anderson family. Thank you to these families for supporting Northwood Hills!

Make plans now to bid on these coveted spots, birthday wishes on the marquee, or the naming rights to the circle drive or hallways at this year’s auction, “Set Sail with NHE Aboard the USS Falcon,” Saturday, April 16! All proceeds support the programs of the NHE PTA.

RISD CLOTHES CLOSET  is having a SHOE DRIVE and collecting NEW tennis shoes during January.  They need all sizes (small boys 12- big boys 12, and small girls 12- big girls 9; note:they have enough girls size 5 shoes).  You can put shoes donated in trunk in front hall.

9 RHS Choir students make State!  The RHS Choir sent 9 students to the Texas All State Choir auditions recently.  After a long day of try-outs, all 9 RHS students were chosen, more than any other school in our area!  They will perform in the All State Choir in San Antonio on February 9-12!   4 of the 9 students are our NHE alumnae!  Way to go, Former Falcons!  Brandon Baker, Sarah Watson, Sam Njiru and  Cristian Ruiz .
