Field Day     Thank you to Truong Nguyen (Hailey and Chris’ dad) and Windell Yancy (Noelle’s dad) for organizing and running Field Day.  Thanks also to all of the other moms and dads who helped!  This was the best and most creative Field Day I can remember!  Everyone had a great time!

Lost and Found         Please check the jackets, sweaters, hoodies and coats we have in Lost and Found.  There are many items that we know belong to your child.  Anything not picked up by the last day of school will be donated to Goodwill. 

Teacher Appreciation Week!    Thank you all so much for all of the wonderful ways you made us feel loved for Teacher Appreciation Week!  Flowers, hugs, notes, massages, and casseroles combined to make an overwhelming display of appreciation.  Everyone at school felt thoroughly pampered and spoiled!

Cici’s Night  This Wednesday is Cici’s pizza night!  Be sure to tell Cici’s that you are there for Northwood Hills when you go have dinner.  See you there!

Distinguished Performance Award    I‘m proud to tell you that the Texas Education Agency recently announced that NHE is a winner of the 2010-2011 National Title l Distinguished Performance Award.  This award is based on TAKS scores for 3 years, including both passing and commended scores.

Congratulations to both our 6^th grade band and orchestra!  Both groups scored ones from each judge in their competitions at Sandy Lake!

Enrichment Clusters   Enrichment Clusters are a new way that we are working at NHE to meet all students’ learning needs and interests.  We are having a series of four 90 minute Enrichment Clusters this month.  Teachers decided subjects they wanted to facilitate.  Students then got to choose which clusters they were interested in learning about.  Every student got one of their choices.  Among the 34 topics were Storytelling with a Twist, NHE Stomp Troupe, Lyric Logic, In Tune, Paper Palooza and many more.  Next year, we will be expanding our Enrichment Clusters program and inviting parents who would like to lead a cluster.  Teachers will be leading them, as well.  This will enable us to have even smaller, more specific learning clusters for children.   You’ll hear more about these opportunities in August!
